MPIKA TURN UP is Mpika’s premier talent show which of course will be held for the first time on the 21st of August 2021 right here in Mpika.
The idea of Mpika Turn Up was brought up by a brilliant young mind with a heart to change the country for the better. Wisdom Sebastian was born right here in Mpika but had to relocate to Ndola in his later years where he’s currently residing.
In an interview, Wisdom Sebastian stated that when he returned to Mpika he was excited to see so many youths with really amazing talent. However, he said he was really troubled to see many of these talents without a proper platform to showcase nor promote their talents because of the limited support and financial aid available to them.
Through his time interacting with the youths of Mpika, Wisdom Sebastian was inspired to come up with the idea of MPIKA TURN UP.
The news of the talent show quickly went viral as more people decided to come on board to help uplift the good talents found in Mpika.
Wisdom also stated that he wishes to advance beyond the talent show by also setting up a fully-fledged studio for artists, photographers, models, and dancers right here in Mpika. Interesting right? very important to have such minds in Zambia.
He further mentioned that most youths from Mpika are not proud of where they come from, “I am hoping that by creating this program, it encourages more youths to be proud of who they are and where they come from.”
He is also hoping that together, they can work towards making Mpika a better place for everyone.
Mpika Turn Up talent show has also released beautiful branded T-shirts to complement the talent show.
